National Security Issues

What is your position on the war in Afghanistan?

I remember after 9/11, the mission to remove Al-Qaeda.  Now we are fighting the Taliban as we re-build the nation.  We need to step up the training and evaluation of the Afghan troops and turn security over to their forces, continue to evaluate them until they have a firm grip on their security.  We have eight years in country, we either step up and destroy the real enemy or we need to bring our troops home and quit wasting our troops lives.

What is your position on the war in Iraq?

It’s time to move our troops out of the inner cities and turn complete control over to their police forces and military.  Without having knowledge of the current mission and expectations, it’s difficult to determine if we have met our goals in Iraq.  I want to see a draw down of forces to a point of strictly an evaluation mission.  I want our military to have POMCUS sites established in country with security forces.

Veterans Issues 

Explain your solutions to improve economic opportunities for veterans?

As a member of the Alachua County Veterans Advisory Board, we work with all veterans groups and Florida Works to insure jobs are available with Veteran preference.  Our collegiate veterans work with returning veterans and organize job fairs for veterans. Control of the group needs to remain local and have no government oversight.

Economic Issues

What is your solution for healthcare reform?

We should overturn the current health care bill and introduce a program that will give competition to health care providers.  TORT reforms, Medicare audits and work with county Health Departments as a clinic and remove indigent health care from emergency rooms.  Establish triage units to direct non-life threatening conditions to stop the waste of monies in emergency rooms, establish standards or enforce current standards.

Social Issues

What is your position on abortion?

I am Pro-Choice within the first trimester.  We cannot legislate morality or common sense and if we were to overturn Roe V Wade; what would change?
